Information about the Transfer and Research Student Systems

You can enroll at A.I.T. directly from overseas. 1. If you are proficient in Japanese, you enroll (transfer) directly as a regular student in the department of your choice. 2. If you know little or no Japanese, we have a program in which you enter as a Research Student, study Japanese, and then enroll in (transfer to) an undergraduate program. 　If you enter a Japanese university directly from overseas, you may not be accustomed to the living environment, or you may have trouble understanding the content of courses taught in Japanese. A.I.T. has prepared a program for eliminating that anxiety, the Japanese Language Trainee System. Professors who understand your native language and staff members who know what it is like to be an international student provide close, caring support. As a Research Student, you first study Japanese intensively and become accustomed to life in Japan while gaining confidence. Once you feel confident, you can enroll in (transfer to) a regular program.
